Correlations Between Body Weight and Size-Specific Dose Estimate on Thoracic Computed Tomography Examination

چکیده
The dose received by a patient on CT examination is expressed in size-specific estimates (SSDE) which function of the diameter, x-ray attenuation, and scanner output (volume computed tomography index, CTDIvol). Patient diameter attenuation are represented as water equivalent (Dw). We conducted research to analyze relationships between body weight Dw, CTDIvol, contrast-enhanced thorax examinations. used images from 100 patients (50 women 50 men patients) whose range 2.8 kg 80 kg. values SSDE were automatically calculated axial using IndoseCT software. Statistical analysis showed that patient's correlates linearly with Dw. linearity coefficient (R2) for Dw 0.43 (women) 0.55 (men). However, was independent terms CTDIvol SSDE. This because system tube current modulation (TCM), adapted size, resulting relatively constant regardless size

Effect of Phantom Size and Tube Voltage on the Size-Conversion Factor for Patient Dose Estimation in Computed Tomography Examinations
Introduction: This study aimed to establish the conversion factors to normalize the output dose of volumetric computed tomography dose index (CTDIvol) to the patient dose (i.e. size-specific dose estimate (SSDE)) for various phantom diameters and tube voltages. Material and Methods: In-house cylindrical acrylic phantoms with physical diameter...
متن کاملDose Assessment in Computed Tomography Examination and Establishment of Local Diagnostic Reference Levels in Mazandaran, Iran
Background: Medical X-rays are the largest man-made source of public exposure to ionizing radiation. While the benefits of Computed Tomography (CT) are well known in accurate diagnosis, those benefits are not risk-free. CT is a device with higher patient dose in comparison with other conventional radiation procedures. Objective: This study is aimed at evaluating radiation dose to patients from ...

OBJECTIVES This study sought to determine updated conversion factors (k-factors) that would enable accurate estimation of radiation effective dose (ED) for coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) and calcium scoring performed on 12 contemporary scanner models and current clinical cardiac protocols and to compare these methods to the standard chest k-factor of 0.014 mSv·mGy-1cm-1. متن کاملPatient-Specific Radiation Dose and Cancer Risk in Computed Tomography Examinations in Ondo, Nigeria
Introduction: The dose in computed tomography (CT) often approach or exceed the optimum levels, thereby increasing the probability of cancer induction. With wide application of this diagnostic test, it is expedient to determine the effective dose (ED) for each patient to estimate their cancer risk. This study was conducted to investigate the patient-specific dose (PSD) and cancer risk in CT exa...

primary and widely in use computed tomography (ct) dose descriptor is a volumetric ct dose index (ctdiv) that is usually measured by a pencil ionization chamber with active length of 100mm and polymethyl methacrylate (pmma) phantom. ctdiv depends on scan parameters such as mas, kv, collimation, tube rotation time but is independent of patient’s size and shape. for the purpose of a good estimati...
